| As
a company driver, Con-way Truckload pays .37 cents per mile, .41 cents
per mile if I am in the 11 North East states. Team drivers start at
.45 cents per mile. Owner Operators start at .94 cents per mile. Placarded
HAZMAT loads pay an extra .03 per mile. Of course that figure only
works out if a driver gets the miles. The miles here are GREAT! A
Con-way Truckload driver is paid when the trip is dispatched, not
when the trip pack envelope is delivered to the company. That means
that you get paid faster. Con-way Truckload pays a driver every week. |

|
| Con-way
Truckload pays practical miles. Some of my trips have been paid within
5 hub miles of my destination. Longer trips will usually pay me within
10 miles of my destination. I get drop pay and detention if delayed. |

|
| Dispatching
is very efficient and reduces any delays. Con-way Truckload uses a
first come, first served method of assigning loads by posting my name
on a "board" listing all the drivers waiting for a load.
Teams and those going on home-time will move to the top of the board
faster. Sometimes my trips are pre-assigned, otherwise, I always get
a load very quickly. You won't be just sitting around! |

|
|
|
| Most
of the loads are in fact, Drop & Hook. You won't be waiting for hours
at a dock while Lumpers take their time unloading you, then re-palletize
the freight before they sign your bills. If I do Live-Unload or Live-Load,
freight is moved on and off quickly. Some loads will need me to help
out but those are rare and depend on the customer. The majority of
my loads are Drop & Hook. |
|

|
|
|
Very
few loads will be swapped unless it is necessary to keep the freight
moving constantly, or if a driver has an emergency or is coming off
or going on home-time. Some companies swap a load off a driver in
order to further reduce the dispatched miles paid to the next driver.
That of course is simply a method of skimming money from the paychecks
of company drivers. Swaps also increase the driver work load by an
additional drop and hook. It gets rougher if the load needs to be
scaled, adding frustration and cost.
We can use our COMDATA card to pay for scales, no more out of pocket
expense! |

| Con-way
Truckload buys new model International Prostars and has Kenworth T-660
tractors, and Peterbuilt tractors for teams and solo drivers. All
company trucks also come with XM radio and an above average stereo
sound system. The tractors are cleaned before they are assigned to
a driver. Con-way Truckload buys new trailers, the tandems won't be
rust frozen. I bought a tandem pulling tool at a TA and I rarely need
to use it. |

Truckload equips its trucks with Pre-Pass, EZ-Pass and Pike-Pass.
We don't have K-Tag or the Florida SunPass. All tolls are reimbursed. |

|
| Home-time
is earned at 1 day per week. I spend more time out on the road because
I like to take my home-time for a whole week. Some people prefer to
be out for 3 weeks at a time, then spend 3 days at home. You can do
that here if you want to. Your time at home begins the next morning
after you arrive home, and ends the morning after your last day off,
at 7:30am. So your time home will be spent being at home, not enroute
to and from just trying to get there. |

|
| Health
care costs are reasonable, my plan is very affordable. My health care
costs at the last company I worked for was an incredible $75.00 per
WEEK! Many truckers regard $65.00 per week as an expected and reasonable
cost for insurance. Working at Con-way Truckload gives you
a pay increase by reducing those expenses. |

| Con-way
Truckload has light frieght that is always easy to haul.
We will have many more terminals across the US. For those wanting
to go out West, Con-way
Truckload has trips going there and back East quickly.
Even drivers in Florida will have a chance at regular home-time and
great miles. We are a 48 state carrier. We
also offer Regional runs. |
